Foodgasm 2.0 Feature: Lulla Pies

Lulla Pies, what an adorable name! Perhaps, indicating that overindulging in these goodies might just lull you into a good snooze.

Their menu on a standing whiteboard

The pies from Lulla Pies are freshly baked, not frozen. From the pie larder, we have:

  • Chicken & Mushroom Pies (Kau Tim!)
  • Spicy Moroccan Pulled Australian Lamb Pies
  • Norwegian Dory & Salmon Leek Pies

Their filling is generous and creamy with so much flavour that goes well with the buttery shortcrust pastry of the pie. Kau Tim has had a few pies around town and despite much hype, none come close to the Chicken & Mushroom from Lulla Pies. Unfortunately, as mentioned in our earlier post, the organizers did not have proper electricity running as promised, so they could not warm up the pies for the best enjoyment of the customers. Nonetheless, we did see plenty of people taking away the pies by bags, which was not surprising, given the stuffy weather that afternoon.

Pies galore!

Apart from the obvious product (pies, in case you didn't know), Lulla Pies also makes Spicy Beef Moussaka with Eggplant. This is crumbed eggplant layered with spicy minced beef and bechamel sauce and topped with melted mozzarella. Kau Tim loves this because the eggplant bit deludes us into believing it balances out the cheesy goodness in it.

 The moussaka with cheesy cauliflower

Apart from that, they had a pan to cook some sides to go with the pies. Creamy mash and cauliflower in bechamel sauce with melted mozzarella completed the meal.

 The desserts

The sweet end of the deal came in the form of Chocolate Banana Brownies and Choco Cro. We think the banana chunks could have been slightly bigger but it definitely lent a lovely taste to the brownies. The Choco Cro is croissant puff pastry filled with chocolate. We bagged the desserts because there was just too much to try at the festival. Popped in the oven, these babies were fantastic warmed!

Lulla Pies makes their goodies on the day of delivery to ensure freshness and they also use quality ingredients right down to the vegetables that go in. Orders are only delivered on weekends with the exception of special events.
